New Library Cards

ADULT Resident cards:

  • To be eligible to receive a Mercer County Public Library ADULT card, one must be 18 years old and satisfy one of the following:

    • Be a resident of Mercer County

    • Show current KY Driver’s License OR current Photo ID with local address (physical and mailing address, if different). If you cannot present a photo ID with a current local address you will be classified as Non-resident/Temporary

    • Other acceptable forms of ID for LOCAL RESIDENTS:
      Current UTILITY BILL with correct local address
      GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT with current address
      CURRENT LEASE
Kentucky Resident Cards:

• Be a resident of Kentucky (other than Mercer County)
• Show current KY Driver’s License AND a library card from a reciprocal library, as well as be in good standing with that library. Staff member will verify the patron’s status by phone with other library.    

Non Resident/Temporary Cards:
  • This will include out of state library users that will be in our community for a limited time. It will also include those new residents that do not have verification of local address.
  • Staff will continue to check photo ID to match name and face.
  • CARD WILL BE MAILED
  • NO CHECKOUT OF BARCODED MATERIALS.
  • INTERNET USE IS BY “GUEST” CHECKOUT.
  • Card will expire after 6 months.
  • Materials will be limited for check-out.
               • Audio - 2            Books - 2
               • Music - 1            Equipment - 0
               • Periodicals - 2   Video/DVD -      1
               • Reserve - 1        Microform -      0
  • Address verification:
         1. Permanent out of state address from government issued photo ID
         2. Local address. Must give street address.
         • NO materials will be checked out on the day that card is issued.
  • Card will be mailed same day if application made by 4PM, otherwise it will be mailed the next day.
  • Card will be changed to regular card once address is verified.
Children's Cards:

To be eligible to receive a Mercer County Public Library CHILD card, a child must:
     • Be a resident of Mercer County, or other KY county.
     • Have an application signed by their parent or legal guardian.
     • Parent or legal guardian must have identification as outlined above.
An adult parent or legal guardian MUST be present in the library to sign for a minor child's card and/or Internet Computer use

Replacement Cards
  • Replacement library cards are $2.00
  • Please notify MCPL immediately if your card is lost or stolen
  • Please notify MCPL of any address, telephone or name changes
